A raft of new appointments at Hull-based John Good Group are set to strengthen the business as it seeks to further expand its existing activities and gear up for future growth.
Previous joint managing director, Alan Platt, has been promoted to Managing Director of the John Good group of companies, while the board also sees two new additions.
Seamus Jennings has been named group Sales Director, while John Garnier has been promoted to group Finance Director. Significantly, between the three, they have a combined total of almost 50 years’ service to the company.
Alan Platt feels these promotions will bring enormous benefits.
He said: “Our origins are in Hull, stretching back over five generations. We are very committed to the city and to the local Humber region. We have a strong desire to further grow and develop regionally as well as nationally and internationally.
“In 2013 we will be 180 years old. These recent internal appointments are particularly significant as it is the first time in the company’s history that a member of the Good family has not held an executive role following the devastating and untimely death of Matthew Good last year.”
Alan also believes the relatively young ages of the new board members – Seamus is 48, Jon is 44 and Alan is himself also 42 – demonstrates that the company is in great shape moving forward to build on its recent success and to prepare itself for future growth.
Seamus Jennings has worked for the company for over 20 years and is thrilled with his new appointment.
“I was delighted to be invited on to the Parent Board of such a respected Company, which has an envious reputation within our industry and a history that covers many generations. The past 22 years at John Good Shipping have allowed me to gather a vast amount of knowledge from colleagues past and present which will stand me in good stead in my new role.
“It’s also pleasing to know that I will play a big part in maintaining our standards, values and reputation over the coming years and I thoroughly look forward to working with my fellow directors in creating a workplace that we can all be proud of.”
