Punta Logistics has changed its name to John Good Denizcilik with effect from 1st January 2008. This re-branding reflects the significant progress that has been made over the past 18 months in developing the Turkish market for the John Good Shipping Group. John Good Denizcilik continues to be managed by Levent Aydinc (laydinc@johngood.com.tr). Telephone and fax numbers remain unchanged.
Alan Platt, who joined John Good Shipping Ltd. in 1997 and was appointed to the board in 2003, became Managing Director on July 1 replacing John Rutherford who took over as Chairman from John Good. John Good will continue as Chairman of the parent board, John Good & Sons Ltd, while John Rutherford continues as Managing Director of the parent board. Matthew Good was appointed to the board of John Good Shipping and the parent company, having joined the company in 2002, after gaining experience with shipping companies in the US and Germany as well as with several group offices.
John Good Shipping acquired Felixstowe Warehousing Co. Ltd in November 2006. This modern racked facility offers in excess of 165,000 sq ft of warehousing with integrated management systems to track products. The warehouse is ideally situated in Walton Avenue and provides an excellent opportunity for effective Port Centric Logistic solutions. FWCL continues to be run by Stuart Gosling on a day-to-day basis and offers a number of key services including container handling, bonded facilities, distribution, pick and pack, devanning and loading of containers.
John Good Shipping acquired Izmir-based Punta Logistics Ltd, with whom it has worked closely for a number of years developing trade between the UK and Turkey. Punta Logistics is well established in this market and covers all main Turkish ports. It operates freight forwarding and NVOCC services and is also experienced in a wide range of trucking, warehousing, customs clearance and project cargo activities. Its current Managing Director, Levent Aydinc, will be staying on to continue operations under the Punta Logistics name. This acquisition gives a sure foundation on which to further develop activities and grow volumes in this increasingly important trade lane.
Congratulations to Steve Mercer who qualified as a member of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers last August.
